The UK Copyright Asssociation say there is only copyright infringement when you take something that has the ingredient of originality (amongst other things). If you are simply referencing a well known problem / solution or story etc, lets say a well known technical issue such as "what causes 'xyz' problem and what stops it", it should not fall into this category.

Referencing any information that is in the public domain (published reports, newspapers, books, ...forums!) is allowed but if are you pasting exact copy written by someone else you just need to make sure you are not passing it off as your own i.e you should state your source and make it clear you are pasting information from someone else (not neccessarily the place you found it, but the actual source i.e. person / title of work).

HOWEVER, if you are just taking information learned and reitterating it in your own words, this is certainly not a copyright issue! ...For example I could tell you all what has just happended in Lost and what the whole six series actually meant, I won't ...not because of copyright but just because I ain't the kind of guy who ruins it for those who sky+ it!!

Thanks,
Alex

I wouldn't have worried Alex, you could have saved me 2 1/2 hours I won't get back. What a waste of time that was.
