Levellers always seem to be a subject of much debate, so why not let us know your thoughts?

What would be you perfect leveller(s)? What properties / benefits would you want from a leveller? Should 1 leveller have all of these uses / benefits or would you want a couple of specific products?

...If you want to tell us what you currently use and why feel free ...likewise any pro's / con's of the BAL products?

What substrates / applications? What depths? What price? ....

Its 'blue sky' time!!! blush.gif

Alex,

My leveller of choice is your very own Ultrabase (poured 12 bags of it yesterday) and it covers my needs in most situations but not all. I know that there is a demand for a 'direct to wood' compound' but my specifications rarely call for it. Maybe that's because recommending UFH cables (even at a low wattage) direct over wood is not something that sits comfortably with me. I do however fix Karndean sometimes and when thats going direct over a wooden substrate that needs smoothing over, I turn to your friends at Mapei and get their Latexplan two-part.

Ultrabase doesn't cover me for depths above 10mm and that does cause an issue. My alternative here is Ultras Level IT One which goes up to 50mm - I will try and not to sing it's praises too much on a BAL forum wink.gif . Again if a two-part is required, Ultra Level IT Two is my choice.

As for a 'one size fits all' bag of compound - while I would have confidence in the BAL brand, I'm always suspect when manufacturers produce products that do 'everything' - kinda 'jack of all trades' territory. No, for my main needs please give me a compound that will go to greater depths for now - sure others will require something else.

Andrew

im with you andrew, ultrabase i use mainly all of the time butwhen needing to go to larger depths i use ultra 1,tried mira x plan once wasnt impressed ,i think there needs to be more leveller on the market that goes from feather finish to lager depths and still keep its compressible strength.

100% agree.
Why is this not being made now? It was perfect. I know there was some negative feedback but that was without foundation.

The best I have used apart from the test sample is Levelflex.

Never seen Screedmaster before but judging by the data sheets I suspect it could be Levelflex made by Tilemaster Adhesives in Chorley and repackaged???
I've never had good times with Bostik - i reckon they should stick to Airfix glue!
How much do you pay for Screedmaster Andy? I get Levelflex for £14.
