Can anyone offer some advice on this small problem I have come up against. I have just started fixing 30x45's in a porch/hallway.
On any material I work out of 2-3 boxes, especially stone and run my hand over tile/edges etc and look over before putting down. To my dismay today I was working down the hall way towards the porch. Looking wonderful I though. At that point I needed the toilet, so walked down hall, went, come out and naturally glanced down at the floor. Because of the light coming in from that end what caught my eye, and I had to position myself for the light to hit correctly again was a line going down the tile, uniform, not a natural fault. Then I noticed it on several more, and over 3-4 tiles in a line. The words I used to describe this find are certainly not typeable!! I went back to the supplier in the afternoon as I could hear yells of "its the fixers responsibility" Anyway all I did was give them a box to look over - fine they said, small little marks here and there - polished you know. I agree I said. Then I put them on the deck in a position in the store where the light was coming through to get same scenerio. To their horror it appeared. Have any of you come across something like this. It is definately a man made fault as it is uniform and in exactly the same place. You cannot see it at all from the porch end looking down, and even standing over them looking for it. It's only as the light bounces off and towards you. |

I've not come across this myself but it seems likely that it was caused in the factory whilst being processed or packed. Maybe a mark from a conveyor or something similar. Which shop supplied the tiles?

I agree with Richard.
Sounds like it has been a problem at the factory, possibly a mistake in the polishing of the stone -------------------- BAL Product Support Technician- Scotland 07970 450 200 |
