Thanks to BAL Dave and Genesis Luke for your time and efforts ref the recent fast track and trims training. Interesting meetings again. As Dave always says, it not just about learning ‘how to’ but learning ‘what’s available’.
Interesting seeing how the tipped trowel works with fastflex and I got my head around the real advantage (to me) ref variset, and that’s the pot time to set time ratio, not the super fast fix time possibility. Networking is always profitable, I have a job in front of me that involves removing tiles that are over 40 years old, 9 inch square, 3mm thick, slightly bowed and stuck down with mastic we worried they might have been asbestos as they appear slightly fibrous and grey. It turns out they are thermoplastic tiles and were originally installed by steaming them (?) then mastic, i brought in a sample and I got this straight from the horse’s mouth as the manger of HTW was there and he used to sell them many years ago. (as soon as we heard they were not asbestos then Dave came out from beneath the table and the training resumed smoothly). Solid pro training yet again from Dave, a smaller group then the last meeting but with more questions and answers and we got to hands on play with a broad range of BAL products. I honestly didn’t appreciate the wide range of products on offer from Genesis, Luke gave us some new-products / really funky little mosaic trims (I can imagine they’d look stunning used right) and I looked up the pricing of their expansion joints and some of the latest in-vogue square and metallic trims – very competitive. If all of this info helps move us away from simply being good at sticking tiles up and into the value-add arena then that’s ok with me. Thanks guys. (nice to meet some of the old faces down there again too) -------------------- |
