Hi Guys,
Doing a floor in a couple of weeks time (slc'd it yesterday - kitchen going in next week).
Client has had a pallet of Verona Stone tiles delivered (white -ish in colour)

Has anybody had any experience with this particular stone (good or bad) and is there anything I should watch out for !!

Will it just be a case of the usual seal twice prior to laying, backskim and fit using white addy, then seal again before grouting ??

Cheers.

I've never used or heard of that stone, but I've never been a fan of sealing before laying with any stone.

I always prefer to lay it, keeping as clean as possible, giving it a right good clean after fixing then sealing before grouting.

Never personally laid that kind of stone however, certyain types of stone I prefer to seal prior to tiling
some sandstones & limestones especially.
did a blonde fossil sandstone job a while ago..
Pre sealed, it took 2 coats of cleartone oil & 2 coats of sealer prior
AND still absorbed another coat of sealer at the end
very porous,
My pre-sealing was included in price

Neil, may be worth trying a test piece 1st, see how absorbant it is , try a grubby hand on it see if it cleans off without staining

No harm in doing it,as long as customer is paying for it.
essentially it does not take that much longer to seal before than after.

I normaly seal after fixing but always before grouting then seal again after grouting.

If there are only a few tiles left at the end of the day then i seal them up to save time for the next day.

Everyone does it different I guess!!!!!!!!!!

Only pre-seal in certain situations.
Sometimes it can help, especially with stones prone to staining, especially when there are muti trades working there as well, sometimes no matter how much you cover up,some idiot always manages to make a mess of them.
I always seal afterwards as well.

it sounds like it may be applestone or milky marble,i never pre seal always fix then seal prior to groutin up some stones will take more sealer than others so always do a test patch and never over seal as too much sealer can also inhabit staining

Thanks lads,

Client got the tiles from her local "tile giant" store, but we are going to take a sample (one of them was broken when we opened the first box!!) down to our CTD on monday before we buy our sticky etc and have a play around with it - see how porous it is etc.
