The attached pictures are the fruits of our labour in a Victorian house in Devizes, Wiltshire.

The customer approached us with the tiling plan for each wall and the floor and he sourced the tiles.

He prepared the floor as a wetroom floor and hand made the drain that you can see although I am not sure if he made the grates. We used flexible rapidset for the floor tiles and BAL Easypoxy grey grout and Biscem Showerproof on the walls with BAL standard white wall grout. The idea of standard white which we don't think is actually very white was to give an aged effect as quickly as possible and it worked quite well. My chief tiler, Simon and I did the work over 6 days of which setting the floor out took about half of 1 and grouting a whole 1 more.

Hope you like it.

Don't see why not.
You could have gone with a nice bit of greenstar.

Really nice work. It's a shame you couldn't get any pattern repeats to end within the internal border equally, I know it's hard in such a small space. What did you seal the tiles with?

I agree, we tried hard but knowing it wasn't going to work, put the "bad" corners at the back behind the pan and basin. We sealed with LTP Mattstone, twice before grouting.

Danny, I don't tile as much as Simon does and he chooses the materials that he wants to use every day. I could but don't see the point in having a grumpy tiler. When he first started with me, I used BAL everything and he showed me things like a Biscem bucket without the point in the bottom which makes it handy cos we re-use them all the time for mixing floor adhesives and grouts etc so I listened to him and let him make the choices. I think we all prefer to work with familiar materials so if you want him to change you'll probably have to throw him a couple of buckets to try out.

Sorry Chris, I was refering to the field repeats not the corners of the border under the bin and basin. In a larger room you could have used a wider external border and had full repeats in both directions.

Yeah, got you now. The customer spent nearly a year planning this room! And now you mention Original Style that rings a bell and he might have got some / all of his tiles from them.

Looks pure quality and a job truly well done.
Afraid that too many trips to Brewer's Fayre in my past life have spoilt the general appeal of Victorian bathroom tiles for me personally though!

That's a decent offer - thank you. If you're that close, we'll have to have a chat and see how else we can help each other.
