It looks a deeper notch Si, maybe Schluter boys can make a comment, " use a trowel to suit the tile format" was mentioned.

Looks like standard 300 x 300 to me?? Wrong Trowel Hello All Our American colleagues who put the video together, assure us that the correct trowels have been used. The gap in the top layer of ply is required by American building codes and is specified in the TCA (Tile Council of America) installation handbook, this is for any potential expansion of the timber.
