Anyone prefer porcelain to ceramic?I know from a fitter's point of view they are harder to work with, but from a seller's point of view, they look far superior to the majority of ceramics. Some of the new porcelain designs I have seen recently are cutting edge and simply stunning.

As a fitter I much prefer porcelain. I hate ceramics and don't usually put the same effort into ceramics as I do with porcelain or marble. I tend to try and get people to buy porcelain instead.

I'm with Gaz on this one.
Love stone - and the more I do, the more I want.
I'd quite happily fix stone forever and never touch porcs or ceramics again.

I prefer to work with quality materials, so porcelain edges it here, but got to admit it's nice once in a while to fix some nice basic, soft ceramics.
Especially when they have a white biscuit.

I love stone too, especially travertine, i always earn a load with stone and find it much easier to work with.

Next would be Porcelain.

Ceramics come in last but Like Grace's dad says it is nice to get simple ceramics once in a while.......it's like taking a holiday!!

Some of the larger range of ceramics now are pretty good quality too and look great.

Did Grace get you a fathers day card then mate??

Here here, Nat stone is the top of the game, it's a product that you can lavish with time and eperience, but can be a cruel mistress if taken for granted (uncalibrated, weak, not sealed and effloressence), so every job has to be approched with caution and homework.

Not for the week hearted, gives the best results cool.gif

What is the right price Paul ?...porcelain is now cheaper and better quality than the English ceramics, shame the industry in this country has never invested in the future and moved with the times. I fear our ancestors have been badly let down for all they achieved

Not just the ceramic industry, but industry as a whole. Once we were the best, most innovative manufacturing nation in the world. Now look at us.

Proves my point - my English uncle used to have one of them. Loaded it up with the wife and 4 kids, took the ferry from Fishguard and planted themselves in our house every summer. Nice bloke but 'awfully British' as I recall tongue.gif tongue.gif
